Powerful Earthquake hits Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest city

Earthquake hits Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest city 

According to Reuters, Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa, experienced a 5.0 magnitude earthquake early on Sunday morning.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) stated that the earthquake occurred at 0038 GMT, reaching a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles).

Some residents of Johannesburg reported feeling the tremors, with one person expressing on Twitter that it was the longest and strongest they had ever felt, lasting approximately 30 seconds.

Nonetheless, the security risk and crisis management consultancy Crisis24 confirmed that there were no reports of any damage or casualties caused by the earthquake.
