Moment London bus bursts into flames

A bus has been engulfed in flames in London’s suburban district of Twickenham.

Terrifying video shows London Fire Brigade desperately trying to get the huge blaze under control on Saturday evening, local time.

The bus was left completely destroyed after black flumes of smoke filled the air.

No one was injured in the horror blaze.

A Met Police spokesman said emergency services were called at 1.20pm to a bus on fire in Richmond Road, Twickenham.

“There were no reported injuries. Inquires continue alongside London Fire Brigade colleagues.”

A London Firebrigade spokesman said: “Five fire engines and around 30 firefighters tackled a bus fire on Richmond Road in Twickenham.

“One diesel single decker bus was destroyed by the fire. All passengers and the driver left the bus before the Brigade’s arrival. There are no reports of any injuries.

“The road remains closed following the incident and people are advised to avoid the area for the rest of the day.

“The Brigade was called at 1318 and the incident was over for firefighters at 2.26pm. Crews from Twickenham, Richmond, Heston and Kingston fire stations attended the scene.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”

The blaze is the fourth London bus to catch fire so far this year.

On January 25 a double decker exploded in Putney Bus Garage, west London.

It came after another bus was completely destroyed by a blast in North Woolwich, east London on January 12.

The double-decker was not carrying passengers, and no-one was hurt.

An explosion also ripped off the back of a no. 200 bus in Wimbledon, south west London at 7.20am on January 11.

It is understood that the fires are not currently believed to have a common cause.
