Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers has finally decided what team he will play for in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The reigning NBA MVP reportedly informed Team USA executive director Grant Hill of his decision after both met quietly in Fort Collins, Colorado, where the Sixers were holding training camp, per Ramon Shelburne of ESPN citing sources.
Joel Embiid, the NBA’s reigning Most Valuable Player, has committed to play for Team USA at the Paris 2024 Olympics, sources told ESPN on Thursday.

The 29-year-old Cameroonian allegedly chose to suit up for the United States to help Team USA return to the top of the international basketball scene.

Team USA failed to secure a medal in the recently held 2023 FIBA World Cup in Manila, Philippines, this summer.
Joel Embiid had options on where to play for the Paris Olympics. He was also eligible to play for France, which was why a recruiting battle ensued. The Sixers center is a native of Cameroon and became a United States citizen in September 2022 and a French citizen a few months before that, CBS Sports reported.
Team USA means business in Paris
With Embiid’s decision, the United States will be a powerhouse team to watch at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
It will be recalled that LeBron James had expressed his intention to play for Team USA at the Olympics, NBC Sports reported.
Other notable NBA superstars interested in playing at the 2024 Paris Olympics include Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum, and Kawhi Leonard.
