MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – MARCH 31: Robert Shwartzman of Israel and Ferrari looks on from the pitwall during practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Australia at Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit on March 31, 2023 in Melbourne, Australia.

Ferrari reserve driver Robert Shwartzman is set to drive for Sauber during the first practice session at this weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix. Shwartzman, who has participated in practice sessions for Ferrari over the past two years, will take the wheel of Valtteri Bottas’ car on Friday. Bottas will then return to the car for the second practice session and the rest of the weekend.

According to F1 regulations, teams are required to run a rookie driver in each of their cars at least once during the season.

Shwartzman, who won the 2019 F3 championship and was the runner-up in the 2021 F2 season, was unable to secure a seat in Formula 1. He currently competes for Ferrari in the World Endurance Championship.
