Did Apalachee high school receive shooting threat before mass attack? Georgia official clarify – Times of India

In the wake of the recent tragic shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, new developments have clarified misconceptions surrounding the incident. Initial reports suggested that the school might have received a warning about a potential attack before the shooting, but these claims have been debunked.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Director Chris Hosey confirmed that Apalachee High School did not receive any warning about a possible shooting. While another school in Georgia had been alerted to an unfounded threat, Apalachee High School was not among the institutions affected. This clarification comes after CNN reported that a warning call about potential shootings in the area was received shortly before the attack, but this was not connected to Apalachee High School.
The shooting at Apalachee High School resulted in the deaths of four individuals and left nine others injured. The victims include teachers Christina Irimie and Richard Aspinwall, and students Christian Angulo and Mason Schermerhorn, all aged 14. Among the injured is special education math teacher David Phenix, as confirmed by his daughter.
The ongoing investigation is focused on how the 14-year-old shooter, Colt Gray, obtained the AR-15 rifle used in the attack and how it was brought into the school. Gray had previously been interviewed by the FBI in May 2023 concerning online threats related to a school shooting. However, the case was later referred to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department for further handling.
