Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case: Vipin Raghuvanshi, the brother of Indore native Raja Raghuvanshi, who was found dead during a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya, said that his brother was hit with a weapon and that four people, including his wife Sonam, attacked him.
Sonam and Raja – a newlywed couple from Indore – went on a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya last month. However, Raja was found dead in a deep gorge in a hilly forest area near Cherrapunji, while Sonam was believed to be missing.
“Raja was hit with a weapon. He was attacked by four people, including his wife Sonam. A CCTV footage caught them meeting. On 25th May, Sonam met Raj (her lover) and later stayed with him in Indore before heading to Uttar Pradesh,” Vipin told CNN-News18.
Sonam, who got married to Raja in Indore on May 10 and reached Meghalaya on a honeymoon trip on May 21, surrendered in UP’s Ghazipur early on Monday days after her husband died.
All About The Case
In Meghalaya, the couple had travelled on May 22 to the Mawlakhiyat village on a rented scooter, where they spent the night at a homestay, officials said.
On May 23, at around 6 a.m., the couple checked out of their homestay and set out for sightseeing on a rented scooter. Shortly afterwards, they lost contact with their families.
The next day, on May 24, their scooter was discovered abandoned near a café along the Shillong-Sohra road, prompting the Meghalaya police to initiate a search and rescue operation.
After the police found Raja’s body, they said that he might have been murdered, ruling out speculation that he met with an accident or fell victim to any other unfortunate incident.
According to reports, Sonam hired four men, including Raj Kushwaha, with who she had an affair, to eliminate Raja. All of them have been arrested, said officials.
Apart from Kushwaha, the other three men have been identified as Aakash Rajpoot, Vikas alias Vicky and Anand.
An autopsy report on Monday confirmed that Raja had multiple sharp injuries, with two major wounds – one on the front of his head and another on the back.
