“Sadhguru was weaned off the ventilator post surgery… he has shown steady progress and his vital parameters have improved,” Apollo Hospital said in a statement

Spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, who recently underwent an emergency brain surgery at a private hospital in Delhi, is doing well and recovering quickly, said his daughter, Radhe Jaggi. Sadhguru underwent surgery at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital after suffering “life-threatening” bleeding in the skull.

“For those asking, Sadhguru is doing well and recovering quickly,” Radhe Jaggi wrote on her Instagram Stories shared an update on her father’s health on Wednesday.

Sadhguru, 66, is the founder of the Coimbatore-headquartered Isha Foundation.

According to a statement from Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Sadhguru’s surgery was carried out on March 17 to remove bleeding in the skull.

“Sadhguru was weaned off the ventilator post surgery… he has shown steady progress and his vital parameters have improved,” the statement said.

Sadhguru also posted a video on his Instagram account from his hospital bed.

“The Apollo hospital neurosurgeons cut through my skull to try and find something but found nothing — totally empty. So they gave up and patched it up. Here I am in Delhi with the patched-up skull but no damaged brain,” he said in a lighter vein.

The Isha Foundation also shared a video of Dr Vinit Suri, the Apollo Hospital’s senior consultant neurologist, who updated about the spiritual leader’s condition.

The doctor said Sadhguru had been suffering from severe headaches for the last four weeks.

“Despite the severity of the pain, he continued with his normal daily schedule and social activities and even carried out the Maha Shivaratri function on March 8. He ignored all the pain and continued all his activities,” the neurologist said.

He said that Sadhguru’s headache worsened by March 15, following which the spiritual leader consulted the doctor over the phone.

Dr Suri immediately suspected a subdural haematoma and advised an urgent MRI. The spiritual leader underwent a brain MRI on the same day, and it revealed massive bleeding in the skull.
