A sex-crazed Tennessee death row inmate has cut off his own penis with broken glass after prison guards denied him a food package.
Henry Eugene Hodges, was refused to have a special meal at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville because he was one month shy of a required six months of clear conduct, the Daily Star reported.
Upset by the move, the 56-year-old reportedly smeared his own faeces on the walls of his cell.
To stop the dirty protest, a guard decided to stop feeding him, further upsetting him and causing Hodges to slit his wrists.
After he was taken to the prison infirmary, the convicted felon severed his manhood during a two hour self-harm session using broken window shards and razor blades he’d kept hidden.

According to Yahoo news, surgeons reattached Hodges’ penis and returned to prison after a couple of weeks in the hospital.
Hodges’ lawyer, Kelley Henry, said that the inmate was restrained and confined to a thin mattress on a concrete block.
He was allegedly kept naked in 4-point and 6-point restraints for a week.
Henry plans to file a complaint, alleging violations of Hodge’s constitutional rights.
“He needs competent mental health care,” she said.
“Surely the prison can find a place to put him where he is not a danger to himself or others and does not have to be tied down like an animal.”
Hodges was sentenced to death in 1992 for the murder of Nashville phone repairman Ronald Bassett in 1990.
He was later found guilty of killing North Carolina chemical engineer Michael Whisnant in an Atlanta hotel, before being convicted in 1992 for stabbing Inglewood nurse Barry McDonald in 1989.
At the time of the murders, reports indicated that the murders were connected to Hodges’ repressed homosexuality and his desire to seek revenge after he was sexually abused as a child.
Hodges is bipolar and is said to have worked as a male prostitute in Nashville during his 20s, where he dazzled locals with his hunky looks. But he subsequently developed a reputation for violent behaviour, leading local gay bars to warn prospective lovers off him.
