Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry spoke about possibly playing for the United States men’s basketball team at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

In an interview with ESPN‘s Malika Andrews, the two-time MVP said that Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been joking that the Olympic gold medal is the piece of hardware missing from Curry’s legendary resume.

Kerr, who also serves as the head coach for Team USA, is already recruiting Curry to play in Paris 2024.

“I have no idea what next summer looks like, it obviously is an extra bonus that coach Kerr is leading that charge, and I’d love to play for him any day of the week, so we’ll see how it goes come summer ’24,” the four-time champion answered.

The Warriors guard wished Team USA the best of luck for this summer’s FIBA World Cup, which will mainly take place in the Philippines from August 25 to September 10

Stephen Curry’s previous Team USA experience

Curry has represented Team USA twice during the FIBA World Cup, which was then called the FIBA World Championship. The 35-year-old has won two gold medals in the competition during the 2010 edition in Turkey and the 2014 edition in Spain.

The 2022 NBA Finals MVP previously withdrew from consideration for Team USA in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro after coming off MCL and ankle injuries suffered during Golden State’s historic 2015-16 season, where they went 73-9 but came up short in winning the NBA championship.
