BWF Rankings: Satwik-Chirag pair slips to 18th, Sindhu moves up to 16th

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who have been out of action since the All England Open due to injury issues, took a major hit in the latest BWF Rankings released on Tuesday.

Former World No. 1 Satwik-Chirag slipped from 11th to 18th in the men’s doubles rankings. Hariharan Amsakarunan and Ruban Kumar Rethinasabapathi, the only men’s pair available for India during the recent Sudirman Cup where the team failed to make it to the knockout stage, moved up spot to 41st.

In women’s singles, two-time Olympic medallist and former world champion P. V. Sindhu moved up from 18th to 16th. The 29-year-old Sindhu had lost both her matches at the Sudirman Cup and has been struggling to find form. Malvika Bansod (23rd), Rakshitha Sree (41st), Anupama Upadhyaya (42nd) and Aakarshi Kashyap (47th) are the other Indians in Top 50.

In women’s doubles, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand stayed at the 10th spot despite being out of action since the Swiss Open.

In men’s singles, Commonwealth Games gold medallist Lakshya Sen slipped from 18th to 19th while Asian Games bronze medallist H. S. Prannoy moved down from 30th to 35th. Priyashu Rajawat climbed from 36th to 33rd.

In mixed doubles, top Indian pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto slipped from 18th to 19th.
