Borussia Dortmund is dealing with significant internal turmoil following its defeat in the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid, which it lost 0-2.
Defender Mats Hummels is set to depart from the club for the second time in his career. He returned to Dortmund in 2019 following his initial spell from 2008 to 2016.
The 35-year-old will leave on a free transfer and is prioritizing a move within Europe, ruling out a transfer to the Saudi Pro League.
Hummels moved between Dortmund and Bayern Munich during his career. He began his youth and professional career with Bayern Munich from 1995 to 2007 and returned from 2016 to 2019.

Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic resigns
On the other hand, the club confirmed Terzic’s resignation from his post on Thursday, June 13.
The 41-year-old’s departure could be attributed to his feud with Hummels, which almost led to a violent physical confrontation.
Terzic resigned just hours after reports in German media surfaced about their altercation.
The club subsequently intervened after the incident, and the two were forced to make peace to focus on the UEFA Champions League final, which they ultimately lost.
