Liverpool is set to pay out the remainder of Diogo Jota’s contract to his family, according to a report from Portuguese news outlet Record.
The reports come after Liverpool chief executives Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes spoke of a desire to “honour” Jota with “the respect and affection he so richly deserves” in a statement made in the aftermath of the tragedy.
The striker, who also turned out for Porto and Wolves, and his brother Andre Silva, tragically lost their lives in a automobile accident in Spain on July 3.
The days following the accident saw an outpouring of grief and support from around the footballing world.
