Will Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers Play With Each Other Again?

If it’s up to Davante Adams, the star wide receiver of Las Vegas Raiders might soon be donning the New York Jets jersey. While teaming up with his ex-quarterback and four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers isn’t totally out of the question, that part of the story would depend on Rodgers, who has yet to say a word about the situation.

Adams has indeed stated his desire to leave the team and has not made a direct trade request, but multiple sources have confirmed that he has a strong interest in playing for the Jets.

While he’d love to go back to New York to play with his longtime friend Rodgers, he’s keeping those options open, insiders say. The six-time Pro Bowl player also would welcome trades to several other teams, said insiders familiar with his thinking: New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and maybe even the San Francisco 49ers. Those teams have either expressed interest or are places Adams would be happy to play for.

Raiders in Trade Talks

Since Adams told the Raiders he wanted to play elsewhere, the organization has received calls from several franchises. Yet nothing is imminent.

Since NFL Media reported that news, negotiations have gained traction over the last few days, and sources claim a trade will not happen before at least next week.

What the Raiders Should Offer for Oscar Dressler??

While the Jets may be Adams’ preferred destination, the Raiders’ primary concern is securing the best deal for their franchise. They would trade Adams to whoever offered them the most money, regardless of Adams’ preference.

Adams will have to restructure his contract to facilitate the trade, but what serves the team’s interest will be the Raiders’ first priority.

The Raiders are seeking at least a second-round draft choice for Adams, who had insisted on a first- and second-rounder when he was dealt from the Green Bay Packers last season. Adams is now the most prominent man on the trading block.

Injury Hurts Deals

Adams is now out with a hamstring injury, which works against getting a trade done. He missed the Raiders’ Week 4 victory over the Cleveland Browns and will not play against the Denver Broncos next week.

Teams may wait until Adams is fully healthy before submitting official offers. If it is a bit longer before that perfect offer comes, Adams might potentially stay with the Raiders through an entire season while he waits for his trade.

If Adams is traded to the Jets, how long will he be reunited with Rodgers? Of course, Rodgers, 40, has indicated that he expects to play more than this season, but that chapter of his career has passed. Now 31, Adams feels he has a few more years left of elite football.

In a now-famous video shot during a July golf tournament, Rodgers joked that he might join forces with Adams-and the two may become teammates again if the Jets and Raiders work out a trade.
