8th edition of Bengaluru Space Expo next week | India News – Times of India

BENGALURU: The eighth edition of the biennial Bengaluru Space Expo, set to showcase the country’s burgeoning potential in space exploration and innovation, is scheduled for Sept 18-20 at the Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) here.
Taking the vision of the Centre in enhancing private sector participation in the space sector, Isro, in association with industry, has been organising the event since 2008.The organisers quote Isro chairman S Somanath as having said: “Times have changed. We are capable of building the best equipment, the best devices, and the best rockets in India.”
The latest edition is being organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), and NewSpace India Limited (Nsil) with the theme, “Accelerating Tomorrow: Harnessing the potential of Space Sector for Unified Expansion”.
The theme underscores the event’s focus on fostering collaboration between Indian and international space agencies and companies. The three-day conference and exhibition will serve as a platform for showcasing innovations, exploring business opportunities, and forging partnerships in the space arena.
Among the key focus areas are: export readiness, in-space manufacturing, space-based solar power, ground station-as-a-service, remote sensing, launch vehicles and satellites.
According to the organisers, the expo comes at a crucial time for India’s space industry. “Despite currently holding only 2-3% of the global space economy, recent policy changes have opened up unprecedented opportunities for growth. The Indian Space Policy 2023 and related amendments to the FDI policy now permit 100% overseas investment in manufacturing components for satellite, ground, and user segments, paving the way for increased private sector participation,” the organisers said.
The event, which is expecting participation from 250 firms, around 10,000 visitors and more than 250 delegates, will also highlight the Indian govt’s initiatives to encourage domestic industry participation in the space sector and promote collaboration with international space agencies.
